The cinema plans to accept Bitcoin and three other major cryptocurrencies for online tickets before the end of the year
Leading cinema operator AMC is now accepting Dogecoin as a payment option for digital gift cards, the company’s CEO announced.
According to a tweet posted Wednesday morning by Adam Aron, the cinema company accepts DOGE from its customers. AMC is working with payment processor BitPay on this project, where users can access the gift cards with their Dogecoin holdings.
AMC, a global powerhouse in the entertainment industry, will also accept other cryptocurrencies that CEO Adam Aron has not named.
“HUGE news for Dogecoin fans! While we are working to accept online crypto payments, you can now buy @AMCTHEATRE’s digital gift cards (up to $200 per day) with Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies through a BitPay wallet”, tweet Aron.
Customers who want to buy gift cards with Dogecoin can do so on AMC’s website or through a mobile app. The service will also be available in the movie theaters, the AMC chief added.
Support for Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies for eGift cards follows an earlier announcement in which AMC said it was working towards accepting online crypto payments.
In August, the company announced that it would accept Bitcoin (BTC) to pay for tickets and concessions. Either of Update this announcement was made in mid-September, with Aron stating that the entertainment giant would accept Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash by the end of 2021.
The price of the Dogecoin, which had risen by more than 13% on Wednesday morning, has experienced a slight decline after being close to breaking through the $ 0,25 mark. DOGE is trading just below this resistance zone, with an intraday gain of 3%. If he recovers, he could follow the Shiba Inu, which has risen by more than 200% in the last seven days.
